London, England, UK

“5 a.m.”
Deryn Yuill - cello
Dan Cullen - electronics

Deryn Yuill was born and grew up in South Africa, where she studied music performance at the University of Stellenbosch and the South African College of Music. She first began taking an interest in musical styles beyond the realms of classical during her studies, when she teamed up with composer and pianist, Jay DC. The duo performed throughout the country, giving well-received recitals of Spanish and Tango music innovitively arranged for cello and piano. Deryn also took an interest in the rock scene, and worked with numerous bands in Stellenbosch and Cape Town. Deryn moved to London in August 2000. Since moving to the UK, she has continued to work with Jay DC, and is a sought after session musician, lending her distinctive sound and improvisation skills to a diverse range of music. She is currently working on film projects, and is co-writing a series of pieces for cello with her partner, Dan Cullen. Dan Cullen (founder member of Echoes of Sin) has been writing and playing songs forever. A skilled engineer Dan has his own recording studio where a variety of projects are currently being undertaken with his partner Deryn. These include classically based work, heavier, raw edged songs which reference metal and goth, and his current project which will incorporate a more melodic showtune/german caberet feel at times
