Julia Kent was born in Vancouver, Canada, and studied cello at Indiana University, Bloomington. She has performed and/or recorded with many artists and ensembles, including Antony and the Johnsons, Burnt Sugar, the Angels of Light, Larsen, Backworld, Jarboe, Devendra Banhart, Angela McCluskey, Leona Naess, Teddy Thompson, Rufus Wainwright, and (sometime around the Pleistocene era) Rasputina.

"Delay," a solo cd of multitracked cello and found sounds, is available now in Europe on Shayo Records.
