Mike is a longtime friend of mine -- he and I have been collborators or cohorts in a number of projects over the years, most notably our group Pointless Orchestra. I met Mike around the time I discovered that progressive rock of the 1970's didn't represent the limits of what one could do creatively in music. He jumped in with one of his string quartets when he heard I wanted to start up this kind of show - and jumped in to host episode 007 when Sean Connery wasn't returning my emails.
So anyway, Mike has been talking up this player he has worked with quite a bit - fella named Samuel Salsbury. His part doesn't enter till a quarter of he way into this piece, but I think you'll find the experience well worth the wait. Here's some info on Samuel:
***
Music brought Samuel to Cleveland, where he studied violin at the Cleveland Institute of Music. His spiritual journey dates back to early childhood and has taken him across many continents to study, teach and perform healing work. Although his interests are many, including Egyptian and far Eastern religions, his personal path focuses on mystical Christianity, within which he has taught circles for the Researchers of Truth for 20 years. Whether creating music, teaching or healing, Samuel draws on his passion for life and experiences to touch – at their deepest core - all those present.
Samuel and his wife, Sabrena Schweyer, reside in the Highland Square area of Akron. They co-own a landscape design company (Salsbury-Schweyer, Inc) specializing in extraordinarily beautiful, earth friendly gardens that are designed to enhance ones spiritual journey.
