Emily Price received her Master's Degree in Cello Performance from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. As a composer and cellist, Emily is constantly searching and creating a niche for herself and always finding it necessary to be versed in as many musical languages as possible. Along with her classical training and singer/songwriter compositions, other more experimental work employs amplification, distortion, multi-track recording, treatments, sampling, and a number of more unorthodox tools, while creating specific scenes nearly always based from improvisation. Always looking for opportunities to learn and grow musically, she has complimented her desire to become a stronger musician with arranging for studio recordings as well as private teaching and has presented educational outreach programs to neighboring schools, as well as organizing a concert series in Pittsburgh and Salt Lake City to which local musicians were able to share their work. She has played and recorded for many wonderful musicians and has more recently been seen digging the groove with Pearl and the Beard (myspace.com/pearlandthebeard). She currently resides in Manhattan with her Chesapeake Bay Retriever and the handsomest beau around: Jonathan.
